No, the Dog Did Not Explode

I brushed Caesar today and this is what happened!  You would think he would be bald after this...but no!  He is still shedding like mad with the hotter weather hitting so fast.  At least he is a bit cooler and not panting as much now.  I'm thinking I am going to have to do this at least once a week from now on just to help the poor big guy stay semi cool.

    1. I know right? He has a very thick undercoat that is there year round. He also sheds year round but this heat has kicked his shedding into hyperdrive so I brush him out.

  3. Wow. That's a lot of hair. lol. We had a friend stay with us and he had a wolf. I thought that dog shed a lot but your dog wins!

    1. Crystal, he is a arctic wolf/german shepard mix...thus the ever shedding dog! He is one of the sweetest dogs around and loves children. :)

  4. Oh my gosh! Caesar looks like a big dog with a lot of hair! I have that much hair after deshedding all 3 of my chihuahuas! :-) Still giggling over that first picture!

    1. Jessica, I did not realize that chihuahuas shed that much. Several of my friends had chihuahuas and I guess after having my dog, I don't even notice the shedding on other dogs that much. :)

    1. Thanks Jess! Last night I got 3 more big handfuls of fur off him just kind of picking at this coat. He hates when I do that and would much rather just be brushed. ;)

  6. Do you use a Furminator on him? I use it on our shepard/lab/hound mix, who sheds at least one puppy full of fur a day. They are pricey, but worth it for heavy shedders.

    1. Hi Sally :) I do have a Furminator but just used a regular grooming brush for long haired dogs this time. With our Caesar I have to use the regular comb first and then follow up with the Furminator and he made it clear that he did not want to be groomed anymore. ;)

  7. HaHaHa!!! Your picture reminded me of my first golden retriever boy. I'd sit on my front steps with him and use a comb that was like a curry comb for horses. The fur would just fly. The birds would swoop down and take the fur to line their nests. Once the birds were done, I'd pickup the yard.
