Slow Summer Day

Daisy enjoying being out on the screened in back porch.  She is an indoor cat so this is the closest thing she gets to being outdoors. ;)

After the craziness that has been our lives lately and a very busy day running around yesterday getting shopping and errands done, I was more than happy to have a non rainy day at home.  The weeds had pretty much taken over the garden so I got most of them pulled and then planted the squash and cucumber plants.  Only 2 out of 20 squash seeds came up so I had to replace them with actual plants this far along in the season.  I piled more dirt around the potato plants so that we hopefully will get more than a few potatoes and then picked more strawberries.  Upon checking on the blueberry bushes, I think that we will have some ready to pick within a week along with cherries from our tree.  Speaking of the cherry tree, the birds are having a marvelous stuffing themselves silly.  I am glad that there are lots of cherries this year so that we can have some too.

Laundry was finished while it was still cool this morning and I got a pork roast going in the crockpot.  My allergies are flaring up big time so I am trying to make things as easy as possible on myself at the moment.  The temperatures are expected to climb into the 100-110 degree range within the next few days so I am enjoying the relatively cool mid 80's in the shade while I can.  As the temperature climbs up to the 90 mark later today, I will retreat into the house and off the screened in back porch, turn on the swamp cooler and curl up with a good book or two.  I am not a girl who does heat well despite being raised in Hawaii.  We are lucky that it is a dry heat here most of the time but today and for the rest of this weekend and early next week the humidity is high.  I'm thinking some time in the hot tub (which I am not heating at the moment) later today is in order.  We like to use it to cool down on hot days and nights.  It has been a huge blessing to both my husband and I.

Now That is a Big Strawberry!

I picked this strawberry, along with some other ones from our garden yesterday.  About half our berry plants produce these huge strawberries and the other half produce regular sized ones.  Our grandson loves to pick and eat them right off the bush when they are warmed from the sun. :)  I think he may have some competition for those berries now that Caesar has discovered them.

Life is Crazy but Bradley Keeps Us Sane

Our lives are crazy at the moment.  It seems like there is just too much to do and too little time to do it all in.  June is almost gone already and I am still wondering where the "vacation" part of Summer Vacation (remember I am a substitute teacher) is.  Jeff and I finally have a free weekend coming up where we have no commitments to anyone or anything.  In the midst of all of the craziness though, we are so thankful for those moments when we can just see life through Bradley's eyes.  He recently spent the night with us again and we loved every moment of it. :)  He keeps us sane. ;)

Bradley is 15 Months Old!

Bradley is now 15 months old!  Time has just flown by so quickly and we are amazed at how much he has grown.  He is now trying to say G-pa and Grammie...melts my heart. :)  We are blessed that we get to spend so much time with him.  He is even coming over for another sleepover on Saturday!  G-pa and I cannot wait. :D

Leisurely Stroll Through the Gardens

I love flowers.  Their perfume is intoxicating and their beauty makes my heart sing.  I am blessed to have so many different varieties that I have been given or collected over many years.  They bring such joy, peace and calm into my life.  A world without flowers would be a very depressing place.

"Mine Dog" Bradley Has Claimed Caesar As His Own

Bradley spent the night with us on Saturday and is now saying and putting 2 words together.  His latest is "Mine Dog".  Of course Caesar can be your dog Bradley...Grammie and G-pa will gladly share him with you! ;)  They are the best of buddies. :)
