| We are surrounded by wildfires burning all around us. |

| There are currently 74 wildfires in our state, Montana and Idaho that are all seriously affecting our air quality. |

| The smoke has made our air quality in the hazardous for you health range. |

| It seeps into our home at night and we wake up coughing. |
 |
| My throat is raw and sore and we can't use the swamp cooler when the air quality is like this. |

| Our son Chris had been been coordinating the firefighting efforts at one of the fires that is near his brother in laws house and is now the official police liaison with the press. The State of Idaho has finally taken over command of coordinating the fire fighting efforts themselves. He is not only a police officer, but a volunteer firefighter as well and knows the area that is burning better than most people since he does the forest patrol there in the Summer. |

| Our son Chris who has already put in 60 hours at work as a sheriff's deputy on this fire and who is heading out tonight as a volunteer firefighter to try to keep it from spreading any further. |

| Please pray for all the firefighters, people affected and the animals too. While Texas is drowning and getting lots of attention, we up here have one of the hottest and driest Summers in history and are literally burning up. |

Thank you, we desperately need them. I had the little boys here with me today so Chris could sleep after being up all night fighting the fire and Heather had an appointment and some errands to run. No one wanted the little guys out in the smoke for any longer than absolutely needed.

Thank you my friend. I am ok as long as we keep the house closed up. We have the fans running inside the house to keep it cooler but it is still hard to sleep. I am seriously thinking about looking to see if we still have some masks up in the cabinet that I can wear when I go outside to water the gardens. We all need to be in prayer...way too much devastation going on right now.

Hi SJ, yes, we are getting it from there and everywhere else since we are surrounded by fires. I hope you are doing ok. I worry about you with all the smoke too.

DeleteOh my, look at that sky! Incredible how smoke in the air can turn the sky so deeply orange. I hope you are safe and that the fire danger is easing. We have had an exceptionally warm and dry winter here. The grass is dying off and is crispy. The rural fire brigade has been back burning but there has already been a very concerning bushfire further north from here. It's going to be a major concern over the summer. Stay safe. Meg Xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Meg, I pray your fire season is not anywhere near what we are getting slammed with. Our National Parks are on fire in this part of the country. We have a new fire that they now know was caused by some idiot teenagers tossing firecrackers off a cliff and they suspect the one my son was working on was caused by people out shooting.

DeleteWoke up to smokey skies this morning. What an eerie sight! And the sun is red breaking through the smoke. And it's humid as well which is unusual here.
ReplyDeleteStarted running my AC at 10am. Neither the dog nor I do well in the heat/humidity. It's worth the cost for the AC to avoid a vet bill from 'hot spots'. I am so sorry to hear you can't run your swamp cooler. Sit with your feet in a cold pan of water? Can you at least use your hot tub or do you have to stay inside?
And, yes, smokey air gets to my lungs as well. Praying for you and your son, what a hero you've raised!

Thank you my friend. I'm sorry you are dealing with this too. Our hot tub is outside but I do have a deep bathtub inside I can get into and cool off if needed. Chris is sleeping today after working the fire all night. Jeff and I had the little boys here for part of the day while Heather ran errands and had an appointment. They left awhile ago and Jeff headed to bed since he has to work tonight. I am worried about him being out in this stuff too. Last week he was stopped for 1 1/2 hours due to a fire that was on the opposite side of the road from him. Just scary!

ReplyDeleteIt really is scary Debbie. Jeff and I just cringe when we hear the fire siren going off here too since they are still working harvest in this and those machines can catch the fields on fire. That is the last thing any of us needs.
DeleteOver here in Oregon, the fires are bad, too. The smoke is so bad today, I can't spend much time out in it. But, they are saying the wind may shift and blow some of it out of here tomorrow, thank goodness. I hope it doesn't all go over to you! I hope they can start to contain the fire in the gorge. We are far enough south that I don't think our main smoke is from there, but there are plenty of fires around here as well, over towards the mountains.
ReplyDeleteToday, my husband started back to school, and the kids start tomorrow. He usually only works when kids are there, but they wanted him today for meetings. Nice to have work. We still don't take it for granted--last fall he was still looking for a job at this time. He got this job in October.
Hi Becky, I am heartbroken over the fire in the gorge at Multnomah Falls as well as the fires in Glacier Park, MT. So much beauty is being lost. Of course I am also very worried about all the other fires too, including the one my son Chris was on. I have no idea if he is out on it again tonight, but it would not surprise me if he volunteered to go out again since he has tomorrow off from his regular job.
