Snow and Small Town Blessings

I love living in our small town.  The other day our neighbor Mason, from across the street, was trying to dig his truck out of the snow so he could get to school.  He was already running late so my hubby went over to help dig him out.  Uncle Bob, who was on his 4 wheeler, was trying to help too but the snow was really heavy.  Along came another neighbor on his tractor and he not only dug Mason out, but then did our driveway and Uncle Bob's.  He moved huge amounts of snow out of the way for us all and then went on his way to help other people in town.  This is one of the many things that I appreciate so much about small town life.  Neighbors help neighbors and watch out for one another.  Yet another blessing of living in a small town.

    1. Yes it was Jane. We are getting a lot of snow. I have to venture out today and there is blowing snow and drifting on the road I need to take to get to an appointment. Not looking forward to that.

  2. That is a LOT of snow. My goodness.
I'm guessing the tractor neighbor was happy to do it and even had fun playing on his tractor.
    Helpful neighbors are wonderful.

  3. I totally agree. Was talking with a friend this morning about this very same issue. She and her hubby are thinking of moving to a rural area and she's trying to get me to think about moving to the same area when they do. (Sorry for the grammar). The up side is I might actually be able to afford something - even a manufactured home. Living in a 55+ mobile home park actually has a lot of appeal as a single woman as well as I've watched one of my older female cousins do the same. The down side is having to start all over again. cheers, SJ

    1. Thanks Wendi! You know I was thinking the same thing today. Facebook is driving me batty with so many people saying such mean things. Can we please get a break from it? Be blessed!

  6. Yes, Debbie, it is a blessing when neighbors help neighbors. I know we are abundantly blessed to have a couple neighbors who look out for the kids and I since Mr.B works out of town so frequently. Albeit we live so far out in the country those "neighbors" are 2-10 miles away.

    Blessings,
    Mrs.B

  7. How nice to have such good caring neighbors. I don't think there is a lot of genuinely good people left anymore. Stay warm and healthy!

    1. Hi Jess, I do think there still are a lot of good people left in this world. :) Sometimes I think that they are just so busy trying to earn a living that they are too exhausted at times to help. We have neighbors that we rarely see other than when we see their cars either leave or come home from work. The only time we actually get to visit with them is at weddings or big town celebrations. They are wonderful people, just very busy and work out of town.

  9. OK I am amazed that there is that much snow! I don't think I would cope with being that cold at all. I guess you do what you have to do to survive.
We are having a heat wave pretty much up the east coast of Australia. There is a cool change that is supposed to be pushing through in the next couple of days. All I can say is yes please. In the meantime we get in the wading pool on the veranda, go down to the beach in the early morning and late afternoon, and just try and stay cool. This has seen us heading to the mecca of air conditioning called the local shopping centre. At least we are lovely and cool when we go there. The trouble is we have to come home to all the heat and humidity. Oh well it isn't for much longer.

    1. Oh Jane, wouldn't it be great if we could combine our cold temps with your heat and find a comfortable medium for us both? ;) I do miss being able to go down to the beach to cool off when it is hot. I find the ocean very mentally healing also. After a hard day, watching the rhythm of the waves or soaking in the salt water helped calm and heal me. Be blessed and I do hope things cool down for you!
