- Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!
- Sir Walter Scott, Marmion, Canto vi. Stanza 17.
Scottish author & novelist (1771 - 1832)
- The quote above is one of my favorite "quotes to live by". Have you ever noticed that once one lie is told, it is usually followed by another lie to back that one up and so on? Eventually there are so many lies interwoven that they form a tangled web that the person who is telling them gets caught in. No matter how much the person tries to escape the lies, they can't. How often have we seen this played out in our own lives and in politics? Why can't people just be honest to begin with? The truth always has a way of coming out.
