End of term is usually busy with finals and then, they find themselves with just a couple of days in which to clear out their dorm rooms or apartments. I remember looking up storage rentals when my daughter had summer vacations, after her first year up at Berkeley - she had to give up her apartment for the summer and was planning to come down for the summer - before going back in the fall.

What were we going to do with all her bits and pieces? It was almost cheaper to get rid of the stuff and buy anew, compared to rent on a storage unit! I could have brought some things down in my car, but I wasn't confident about driving a rental truck to bring all of it and she certainly didn't have time in which to sort through things and call for a donations pick up with her exams and part-time work schedules, and, without a car, she would have found it both time consuming and difficult to carry bags of donations to a drop off center.

She was planning to leave a lot of stuff next to the apartment building's dumpster so that someone else might be able to make use of them - another in-coming student, perhaps. In the end, she found a summer internship up there, and rented another apartment for the summer and I went up to help her move (that was the summer my cancer was detected). So her stuff is still with her!Blesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16369267622517848850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-24611953805309235462018-05-16T09:25:17.278-07:002018-05-16T09:25:17.278-07:00Yes it is!Yes it is!Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449564619872452771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-9800249399351974592018-05-16T09:23:32.228-07:002018-05-16T09:23:32.228-07:00I'm right there with you! There is a definite difference in the thinking of the students that go to WSU as opposed to University of Idaho. The college are just across the state border and a few miles from each other. University of Idaho students seem to be much less wasteful based on what is left behind there as compared to Washington State University students in general. It should not surprise me since it has been that way since I was in college at U of I many years ago.Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449564619872452771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-63475277261366217092018-05-16T09:17:52.592-07:002018-05-16T09:17:52.592-07:00Thanks SJ :) I can just imagine how Dexter looks ...Thanks SJ :) I can just imagine how Dexter looks with a big smile on his face in front of the AC unit. :)Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449564619872452771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-86645561256483170332018-05-16T06:25:50.167-07:002018-05-16T06:25:50.167-07:00So handy if you plant, then it rains! It's been in the 80s here the last few days and by lunch time, I'm wiped. I was hoping to go to my garden meeting last night but had to stay home. Disappointing but a good choice.
Fortunately, I set up my portable AC on Saturday ahead of the heat wave. Dog and I are enjoying it. He faces the vent and the little hairs on his ears 'wave' in the breeze. Silly boy!

I too wonder what the parents of those kids are thinking. We actually met a few of the parents and they told us they did not have room to haul it all back. They were shocked when we told them that you could call a local consignment store that would come and get the furniture, sell it and then split the money with the seller.

Be blessed and have a wonderful day!Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449564619872452771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-72916465653484229102018-05-15T10:00:51.486-07:002018-05-15T10:00:51.486-07:00Hi Becky,

Jeff just finished getting the thistles out of the front garden so I can start planting there. I may do some of that late in the afternoon before the thunderstorms come in later tonight. I've been hand watering the side garden but have the soaker hoses set up for the raspberries, blackberries and the plum trees. I do need to get the sprinkler set up for the side garden but am waiting until next week when the lettuce comes up to see where there is a good spot to put it. ;)

Be blessed my friend!Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449564619872452771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2283658887503348180.post-5488349525710697712018-05-15T06:47:39.709-07:002018-05-15T06:47:39.709-07:00It is amazing at all the stuff you are getting lat...It is amazing at all the stuff you are getting lately. I wonder of the parents of those kids wonder what happened to the stuff they paid for - or if they are of the same mentality.
You sure have gotten some great things.

We have a basket of toys for our 3, and they each have their favorites. It is fun to watch them go over and look at things and decide what they want. Just like kids.

You need to quit over doing. I'm glad you are finding a use for it! Even the fact that so many great things are being saved from the landfill is amazing, and I'm glad you can share, sell or use it.

Now I'm going to have to look at my Safeway app again! I didn't get ice cream, yet:). I love ice cream. It's been pretty warm here.

I finished planting the garden tonight, and Rob got the sprinklers up and running. Thank goodness:). It's been tedious hand-watering the little plants with my watering can. Sprinklers are better for me!!Beckyathomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11105835394158145451noreply@blogger.com
