Feeling a Bit Discombobulated

Doofy got in this strange position tonight while snuggled up next to me in my recliner and I thought "Yep, that is exactly how I am feeling too".  For the past few days I have felt like I was on the verge on coming down with something.  I've been taking Lysine and my lemon, honey and ginger syrup to try and fend whatever it is off.  I have major Fibro fog and could not even remember the name of my own cousin today...yes, it is that bad.  My nose is runny and now my throat is starting to get hot, sore and scratchy and my ears are itching inside and I can feel the pressure building up behind my eardrums.  As the night progresses, it is just getting worse.  I'm feeling discombobulated.  I'm worried because we have Heather's grandmother's graveside service on Monday and I told them I would be there, even though there is bad weather expected.  Ginny was family and we do everything we can to be there for our family, especially in their time of need.  I was hoping to have the oldest two grandboys stay with us one night this weekend, but it looks like that is not going to happen now. 😟

I am pretty well stocked up on everything I need here if I get sick except for tissues.  I have 1 1/2 boxes in the house and another 1/2 a box in the car.  Jeff may have to get me some more on his way home from work.  There are lots of homemade soups in the freezer, along with some other premade meals and there is always the Instant Pot that I can throw things into since it cooks things up so quickly.  I even have bread in the freezer in case I am unable to get any more made.  Luckily we still have one loaf left that I made earlier in the week.  The guest bed in the back guest bedroom is now cleaned off after the Christmas pile of gifts that was on it and it is ready to go if I or Jeff need to move in there.

For now I am going to go and take a nice hot shower, put on some soft jammies and crawl into bed.  I am praying whatever this is passes by the morning, but I'm feeling a bit feverish, Never a good sign.  Yuck!

    1. Thanks Billie Jo, I am taking it really easy today and sipping on some of my honey lemon ginger syrup in hot water. I am hoping it will help with my voice too. ;)

  4. This virus that is going around is wicked. Get to the doctor if you start running a high fever. I feel so bad for you.

    1. Thanks Kim...so far no fever. I just feel like I was hit by a bus and have a scratchy throat. Strep Throat is making the rounds in my area and I am being really cautious since that went into Rheumatic Fever for me when I was a child. Believe me, if I get a high fever and a sore throat that does not clear up after a few days I will be in the doctor's office pronto!

  5. And isn't this exactly why we 'stockpile' or have 'deep pantries'?? So that you are ready for what comes at you.

I'm very sorry that you've got the 'crud'. I know how hard that is on top of CFS and know it's the same with you. We just don't have the normal bounce to come back from normal illness.

My latest IP creation was ok/good but not great. Not great because I chose a 'stir fry' pack of pork rather then a roast. What I bought was the right size & price. In a fry pan, I sauted half an onion and then the pork. Then put it all in the IP with a bottle of salsa verde. I added a cup of water but probably a 1/2 cup would have been fine, or even none. Then 30min on 'meat' and then a natural release. The pork was not as tender as I had expected, but still very good.

Off to a doctor's appt for 3pm. Icky time for me and for the traffic. Oh well. Nothing planned for the next few days because of it.

Sending prayers your way so you can spend time with the grands and time with family on Monday.
    Hugs...SJ

    1. Thank you SJ. (((((HUGS))))). Doesn't your Instant Pot have the saute feature? Mine does and it works really fast and is so convenient.

Praying the traffic is not too bad and that your appointment goes well. :)

  6. Feel better dear friend. I am sure the family would understand if you were sick at the time of the funeral. They love you and know you'd do what you could - but sometimes life throws us a curve ball.

TP works great for tissues as well. I cant remember the last time I bought a tissue.
    HUGS and feel better soon!

  7. Hope you feel much better soon. Having those meals in the freezer will be a great help when you are feeling sick. Nothing like being able to defrost a meal that's delicious and nourishing without making lots of washing-up! Meg:)

    1. Thanks Meg. I pulled a pot pie out of the freezer earlier today to have for lunch. It was the only thing that sounded even remotely good. :)

  11. Hi again, Debbie!
    :)
As I've said in my blog, we're trying to eat healthy in our house, so I've been searching for healthier alternatives for my husband and I.
Here in Portugal, our main diet is the Mediterranean diet, wich is considered one of the healthiest ones, but with all the fast food, microwave meals and restaurants we have tat our disposal today, sometimes we just forget what's best for us, right?
So, today, while I was reading about this, I've found these links about the mediterranean diet model in inflammatory rheumatic diseases and thought that you might like to read it. I hope it helps and that you are feeling better today!

    1. Thank you Paula for sharing this information with me. :) I love to learn new things. I'm actually feeling a bit worse today but hey, that is part of this whole cold virus or whatever it is. I think I just need lots and lots of rest at this point.

  12. I'm very sorry to hear that you are down with the crud. I got it the week before Christmas, and was so glad to get it out of the way BEFORE the holiday. So thankful. Anyway, it did go away pretty quickly. I just cancelled my things that were on the schedule, including one day with my nephew--thankfully it was a day that did not put them in a bind as one of his parents was able to spend time with him that day with a minimum of inconvenience for them.

Here's hoping yours goes away as quickly as mine did!

  13. Me again. Yes, my IP has the saute feature.I just haven't used it yet. Old habits I suppose. And thinking the fry pan would be easier to clean up. But perhaps not.
Forgot to say yesterday how much I loved the picture of Doofy.

    1. Hi SJ, the saute feature is wonderful and it actually cooked things faster than I can do in the frying pan. :) Thanks about Doofy...good thing he is cute because he was an absolute brat this morning and would not let me sleep.

      Be blessed!
