Cozy Winter Days at Home

Fiery Winter sunrises that herald the arrival of a new day.

Bradley thoroughly enjoying his hot cocoa and digging the marshmallows out of his cup while he watches a movie.

Gpa and Isaiah getting in some good cuddle time after hot tubbing.

Doofy cat curled up on the pellet stove getting warm after one of his many trips outside to play in the snow that had drifted onto the screened in porch.

A young moose who came to graciously trim our neighbor's bushes while his mother trimmed the rose bush around the corner.
Snow was shoveled...multiple times so we could find our stairs and get our cars out of the driveway.

Homemade chicken and orzo soup was made and enjoyed as it warmed us from the inside out.

And Scrabble was played by the warmth of the pellet stove while hot cider or another drink was sipped on.

  2. Sounds like you've been having a wonderful winter. Your cat is so cute there. Our wood stove gets way too hot. We haven't needed it much. Still hoping for snow!

    1. Hi Laura, the pellet stove does get pretty hot and I don't know how he can stay there so long, but he sure likes it.

    1. Thanks Bless. I am just dealing with my usual Winter allergies now for the most part. ;)

  4. Oh my gosh, that moose! I've never seen one that close, how amazing! We definitely don't have moose around here 😁 And wow! You guys got a lot of snow! My parents had some when we first arrived, but it quickly melted. Everyone definitely looks cozy!

Have a great week Debbie! 😀

    1. Hi Jessica. I hope you had a wonderful time with your parents. :) We do get moose and deer wandering through town. We have even had a mountain lion come through in the past. I know there is one lurking right outside of town since I spotted it's tracks in the snow the other day following some deer tracks.

  5. My goodness, a moose! That must be something to see! You have a lot more snow than we have. Everyone has more snow than us, I'm disappointed. Ha! Looks like you are enjoying it. Stay warm!

    1. HI Jane. We did get a lot of snow this season so far with a lot more to come. This is the way it was when my hubby was growing up in this area and when I came to college here. I'm loving it!

  6. I can't decide which is more fascinating, your cat on the pellet stove or the moose in your neighbours yard!!

    1. Hi Theresa. :) I keep waiting for the moose to come back. One year we had 2 sets of momma mooses with twins. :)

  7. Wow --moose!! How cool is that.
Great pics of the family. Esp your grandson loving his hot cocoa. There's just something so precious about that age.
My front yard looks like yours. About that much snow piled up and just about a shovel's width on all the walkways. None of the stores here can keep up with the demand for snow melt. When they get it in, there's a buy limit.
First checked the temps this AM and it was -7C, now warmed up to -1C. Not sure of the conversion to F. It's just cold! More snow here for Fri/Sat. Just in from the store - the Safeway here does a 10% off orders over $35 once a month. Today was the day and fortunately I was able to get out of the underground parking garage. Love not having to scrape my windshield but, oh my, the driveway can be a bit dicey.
Glad to read you're feeling better and just dealing with allergies. I was housebound Thursday until today. The rest did me good but I got a bit whiney. So it goes. Cheers, SJ

    1. HI SJ. :) Our Bradley does love his hot cocoa! I hope you are staying warm. This arctic blast that you and we are getting is bad. Poor Caesar cannot understand why I will not let him just lay out in the yard all day. I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the Safeway offer. I wish we had that here also. Be blessed!

  8. This post makes me smile!!! I miss snow. I moved to the South from the Midwest and no such things as snow here. Not real snow anyway. My kids and I miss our yearly sled riding and hot cocoa. But I do thoroughly enjoy being able to walk here almost daily without freezing. I love your pictures.

    1. Hi Chrissy. :) Thanks, I enjoying taking pictures and sharing them. I need to do that more often. :) Having been raised in a warm climate, I craved snow and the magic that it seems to bring. I told my husband I like living in a real live snowglobe. ;) Do you still have family in the Midwest?

  9. Looks comforting! I can not believe it isn't too hot for kitty on top of the stove!!!! WOW
We have only have snow once to shovel this winter so far. It is pretty but I can do without!
    Have a great day.

    1. HI Cheryl, the top of the stove does get hot, but not as hot but not burning hot like a regular wood stove. We used to have one of those and I would keep a kettle of water on it to add moisture to the air and to have hot water ready at all times. Enjoy your snow free weather! ;)
