So Thankful!

Do you have those moments when you look around you and realize just how blessed you really are?  I am having one of those moments right now.  :)  My hubby is off this morning playing golf (a Father's Day gift from our son Josh), I put a new pheromone  collar on Rufus so he had calmed down quite a bit, I have our sheets washed and hanging on the line to dry and I am sipping on a cup of coffee.  There is a nice breeze blowing and the current temperatures are in the high 60's.  We will be warming up later as the day goes on, but it is not supposed to get that hot at all.  Yay!

My plans for the day are to pick raspberries and strawberries from the garden, do some watering and maybe some planting in the garden.  Later this evening we will grill up a large steak that I have marinating and have some corn on the cob and baked potatoes with that.  Other than that, my day is wide open and I am very content and happy with that.  I truly am so thankful for days like these where I can putter around the house and garden enjoying the cool breeze and reflect on my many blessings!

  1. Most definitely on the same wavelength!! I just love days like this, where I can do what I want! I have to say, I've been a bit lazy today, but after having such a busy week I think I've earned a day like this!!

  3. Your berries look so yummy. I live in Nevada but grew up in Oregon - The Willamette Valley. Family still lives there. I do miss the lovely berries. Raspberries, strawberries, logan berries, marion berries and goose berries. I'm making my self hungry! I finally got some Rhubarb planted here after years of living in Nevada. So a little bit of "home". Don't you just love the days when you can putter and be content at home. Love your blog. Take care.

    1. Thank you Crystal. :) I'll bet you do miss those berries! We used to make trips over to Harry and David's when we lived in Klamath Falls to get some of the wonderful produce that Oregon had to offer. :)

  5. Oh yes! Hubby doesn't return to work until Wednesday, the windows have been open all day as the temp didn't leave the 60's (on July 3rd!), we have been puttering around this afternoon marking little things off of our list. We are getting ready to play some games and enjoy some fresh baked cookies. Feeling blessed indeed!

  6. Your raspberries look so delicious. I'm near St.Louis, and we have had three cool rainy days in a row. I house puttered all day yesterday, and loved every minute of it. Raining out some of the fireworks displays, but that rain-cooled air feels so good to me, and to my poor parched plants. Most of June was in the high 90's near 100 on many days. Very hard on many of my flowers.

I read your mention of a pheromone collar for you dog. Is it to calm him down or for flea protection? My little Pomeranian is calm about the continuous cracking and booming of fireworks around here. He usually barks once to be sure that I have noticed them, too. And then goes back to sleep. He needs calming down when my daughter or son in law come to pick up my grandson to take him home. I can't seem to stop Fuzzy Pom from going nuts with the barking when they leave taking grandson with them.

I just came over form Terri's Blue House Journal. Happy berry picking, house puttering, and Independence Day!

    1. Hi Susie and welcome! I really enjoy Terri's blog. :) My husband's cousins just moved back to the Pacific Northwest from St. Louis and are enjoying the Seattle weather again. We are over on the Eastern side of Washington State where it is much drier.

As for the collar, it is for our hyperactive cat Rufus. It does seem to help him calm down a bit. He is 2 years old and full of spunk and can be naughty at times. A friend of mine suggested the collar and I am so glad she did! You little dog sounds so cute!

Happy 4th of July to you also!

  7. Glad you're having a nice day.
I woke up to see it had rained last night and is overcast and threatening to sprinkle now. I'm enjoying the cooler weather and a break from watering the community gardens. Yesterday was also cooler. I had a great time in the garden harvesting lettuce, strawberries and radish. All went into a salad for dinner.
Off to walk the dog and then putter at home the rest of the day. Cheers, SJ in Vancouver BC

    2. Saw on my dog walk that the blackberries were ripe. Went back without the dog and picked over 2 pounds. It's the perfect berry picking weather today - cool and overcast. And, I thought that if I waited until tomorrow some other 'bucket' lady would have beat me to it..hahaha... SJ

    3. Wow, that is early for blackberries. Mine are just starting to finish blooming and starting to set fruit. I'm so glad you were able to get the blackberries. I am hoping to go pick huckleberries next weekend with my kids. :)

  9. Hi Debbie, our blueberries and strawberries come into full production August/ September. The raspberries struggle and I get a couple of fruits off them each year. My sister lives in the hills west of Sydney and over a thousand kms south of us. She grows the most amazing berries ever! I gorge on her berries when we visit. Looking forward to being there come late September with hopefully some being ripe.
We've had a bit of a set back here and our simple quiet life has hit a quite a large speed bump. We will get over, under or around this hurdle. In the meantime I continue to try and be grateful for all of the blessings that have come our. way.
Hope you had a great July 4.
